Grand Opening This Sunday

Us

Our vision is to be a home that looks like heaven. A place where people from all backgrounds encounter Jesus in the heart of Seattle while playing our part to see revival in the church and transformation in the Pacific Northwest.

Our Leadership

Ryan and Janelle have been in ministry together for almost a decade. They’ve been married for 10 years and currently reside in the city with their two young children Levi and Chloe. Ryan is the lead and founding pastor of Banner. Janelle is loving this season as a mom and spending time with our community. Both were deeply impacted through a missionary organization called Youth With a Mission (YWAM) and have a passion to connect with people, build the local church, and see communities experience the presence of God.

Our Values

We are people of His

We are a home that looks like

We are finding in Jesus Christ

We are God's Kingdom together

Our Story

Banner started with a group of 20 friends in a living room dreaming about starting a transformational church in one of the least religious cities in America. Along the way we inherited a 100 year old historic church building completely debt free in the heart of Seattle just five blocks from the Space Needle. Public worship gatherings began in January 2024 and God began to do great things- we watched miracle after miracle take place as lives were completely changed by the presence of Jesus and a group of strangers became one family with a purpose. Now nine months later after many prayers, lots of laughs and meals together, and hundreds of hours renovating our building as a community we are officially launching Banner Seattle in the heart of the city.

Our Beliefs

Banner Seattle is a multigenerational and multiethnic church which holds to historic Christian beliefs as outlined in the Nicene Creed, the Apostles Creed, and the Lausanne Creed. We are biblically grounded, Jesus-centered, Spirit-led, community driven, and mission minded.

I believe in one God, the Father Almighty, Maker of heaven and earth, and of all things visible and invisible. And in one Lord Jesus Christ, the only-begotten Son of God, begotten of the Father before all worlds; God of God, Light of Light, very God of very God; begotten, not made, being of one substance with the Father, by whom all things were made. Who, for us men for our salvation, came down from heaven, and was incarnate by the Holy Spirit of the virgin Mary, and was made man; and was crucified also for us under Pontius Pilate; He suffered and was buried; and the third day He rose again, according to the Scriptures; and ascended into heaven, and sits on the right hand of the Father; and He shall come again, with glory, to judge the quick and the dead; whose kingdom shall have no end. I believe in the Holy Ghost, the Lord and Giver of Life; who proceedeth from the Father and the Son; who with the Father and the Son together is worshipped and glorified; who spake by the prophets. I believe one holy catholic and apostolic Church. I acknowledge one baptism for the remission of sins; and I look for the resurrection of the dead, and the life of the world to come. Amen.

I believe in God, the Father Almighty, the Maker of heaven and earth, and in Jesus Christ, His only Son, our Lord: Who was conceived by the Holy Spirit, born of the virgin Mary, suffered under Pontius Pilate, was crucified, died, and buried; He descended into hell. The third day He arose again from the dead; He ascended into heaven, and sits at the right hand of God the Father Almighty; from there he shall come to judge the quick and the dead. I believe in the Holy Spirit; the holy catholic church; the communion of saints; the forgiveness of sins; the resurrection of the body; and the life everlasting. Amen.

THE BIBLE

We believe that the Bible is the living word of God, divinely inspired, and the unchanging foundation of all Christian doctrine (2 Tim. 3:16, 17).

 THE TRINITY

We believe that there is one God in three Persons: Father, Son and Holy Spirit (2 Cor. 13:14).

THE FALL OF HUMANITY

We believe that humanity is created in the image of God but, by voluntary disobedience, was separated from God because of sin causing mankind to be spiritually lost and broken apart from being born again through faith in Jesus Christ (Rom. 5:12).

THE GOOD NEWS OF THE GOSPEL

We believe that, while we were sinners, Christ died for us—pardoning all who believe in Him and that the Gospel is the power of salvation for all who believe (John 3:16; Rom. 5:8). We believe that we receive salvation by faith in the atoning work of Jesus on the cross. Salvation is God’s gift to us, not by works, but by sheer grace (Eph. 2:8). We believe that a genuine change takes place in people who accept Christ as Savior; as believers allow Christ’s life to be lived through them (2 Cor. 5:17; Gal. 2:20).

THE HOLY SPIRIT

We believe the baptism of the Holy Spirit empowers believers, and that the Holy Spirit’s presence follows the same pattern that is described in the New Testament (Acts 2:4). We believe that the Holy Spirit has gifts for every Christian (1 Cor. 12:1-11) and that we should show spiritual fruit as evidence of a Spirit-filled life (Gal. 5:22-25). We believe that it is the will of God that we daily walk in the power of the Holy Spirit (Eph. 4:30-32).

THE CHURCH

We believe that followers of Christ are being made into a new family, called to identify with the visible church of Jesus Christ, and should meet regularly with fellow believers while partnering together to fulfill the Great Commission (Heb. 10:24, 25).

ETERNITY

We believe in the resurrection of both the saved and the lost and that those who put their faith in Christ go to everlasting life (John 14:1-3; Rev. 7:15-17) and those who don’t go to everlasting separation (Rev. 20:11-15).

THE SECOND COMING OF CHRIST

We believe that Christ will come back one day and make all things new (1 Thess. 4:16, 17; Titus 2:11-13).

SEX AND MARRIAGE

We believe that marriage was instituted by God, ratified by Jesus, and is exclusively between a man and a woman. It is a picture of Christ and his church. Sex is a gift from God for procreation and unity, and it is only appropriate within and designed for marriage (Gen. 2:18-24; Eph. 5:21-33).
